Out and About in Litchfield Park - Things To Do This Weekend 11/11/11

Welcome to The West Valley Home Team's blog "Out and About in Litchfield Park," featuring things to do in Phoenix's West Valley, including Litchfield Park and Goodyear.  Don't miss this week's fun events like a Veteran's Day Parade, the inaugural Arizona Kidstock Music Festival, and venomous creatures! Friday November 11th

Veteran's Day Parade and Tribute in Goodyear.  Veteran's Day Parade will begin at 10 am at the Pebblecreek Tuscany Falls Clubhouse and end at the Eagle's Nest Clubhouse.  Goodyear's Veteran's Day tribute will start at 11 am at the Armed Services Plaza at the Eagle's Nest Clubhouse.  Event includes marching bands from ASU and three high schools, more than 80 decorated golf carts, floats, public safety vehicles including a fire engine, WWII veterans, marchers dressed in Revolutionary War costumes, motorcycles, boy scouts and more.  Goodyear Ballpark mascot Zizzy will be handing out candy and surprises to the kids.  There will also be a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 9:30am.  The cost for breakfast is $6.95 and $3.95 for veterans.  Get there no later than 9:30 to make sure you can park and get a good spot to watch the parade.  Current and former military personnel can march under their branch of service banner.  Email jrh912@cox.net or pxazwiny@aol for more information.

Snake Feeding at White Tank Park.  Learn about the habits of desert creatures and watch the snake feeding.  Warning, the snakes are fed live animals.  Nature Center at 3pm.  For more information visit www.maricopa.gov

Family Moonlight Hike at White Tank Park.  Enjoy the desert in the moonlight.  The hike will be along the Waterfall Canyon Trails and the ranger will discuss the unique changes in the desert after the sun sets.  Bring a flashlight and scorpion light.  No dogs.  Meet in area 6 at 7pm.  This is a 2 hour hike.  More info:  www.maricopa.gov

Saturday November 12th

Inaugural Arizona Kidstock Music Festival at Goodyear Ballpark.  This is going to be an awesome event for families!  There is so much going on.  33 Artists, two stages, National TV personalities, including PBS' Kratt Brothers, kid-friendly musicians, a petting zoo and other family activities come together for a day of fun.  There will be 10 different Woodstock inspired fun zones for kids and adults to enjoy.  The Kratt Brothers will have two performances.  Kidstock also features live entertainment from The Electrolytes, a Gilbert hip-hop dance group that made it to the second round of "America's Got Talent," Arrowheart, a Valley contry-pop trio, and West Valley singer-songwriter Carly Paige just to name a few.  For a full list of performers and activities as well as tickets and ticket prices visit www.kidstockaz.com.  The festival runs from 10 am to 6pm.

Sunday November 13th

4th Annual Taste of the Park in Litchfield Park.  The Rotary Club of Litchfield Park is holding their annual Taste of the Park in downtown Old Litchfield Park.  Food will be provided by Estrella Mountain Community College Culinary Studies, Taps, Blu Sushi, Old Pueblo Cafe, Corner Cafe, Wigwam Resort Restaurants, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.  Thaddeus Rose will be providing live entertainment for the evening.  There will be a silent auction, raffle tickets and a 50/50 drawing.  100% of proceeds will benefit local charities.  For tickets and ticket prices call 602-374-4923 or order online at www.LitchfieldParkRotary.com.
