Transportation

Goodyear also offers Dial-A-Ride through the City of Phoenix and ADA service for those with disabilities that prevent them from using public transit. Uber and other ride-sharing services are available in the area as well.

Many young adults are relocating to Goodyear for ample career opportunities and post-secondary education opportunities. Franklin Pierce University moved into Goodyear in 2008, and the school offers the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and online undergraduate and graduate programs. Other schools in the area include Arizona State University West Campus, Estrella Mountain Community College (which is part of the Maricopa Community College District), Grand Canyon University, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Midwestern University Glendale, DeVry University, The University of Phoenix, Park University, and Keller Graduate School of Management. Park University is a four-year school that is for military personnel and their families at a reduced tuition rate.

Goodyear is a great mix of outdoor recreation amidst the desert scenery. The West Valley has grown a lot over recent years, which means there’s a number of tall buildings moving in and extra residential development, but the city keeps outdoor activities as a main priority. The Estrella Mountain Regional Park is a hugely popular spot for residents to enjoy. Arizona sees about 300 sunny days each year, so there’s plenty of time to get out, get some vitamin D, and bond with your family outdoors.
In 2021, Goodyear will be opening the first recreation center in the city, and it will be accompanied by a large regional park as well. It will include a state-of-the-art aquatics center, sports courts, a multi-use field, and a recreation center.
Due to Goodyear’s prime location at the base of the Estrella Mountains, bordered by the Gila River, the city has some of the best views and landscapes in the Phoenix area. The stunning desert scenery offers residents a place to go hiking, horseback riding, and cycling for most of the year. For those who want to stay where the action is, there’s plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options right in the city. Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians practice during the summer in Goodyear, so residents can attend those camps and watch some great baseball.
Weather rarely gets in the way of plans in Goodyear, so those who call it home can enjoy outdoor and indoor activities throughout the year without much planning. The city is a hub for entertainment, as there are many annual festivals to attend at the Goodyear Ballpark. A brand new movie theatre also calls the city home, featuring 78,000 square feet and 16 screens in Harkins Estrella Falls. The Market at Estrella Falls is a great place to go shopping, grab a bite to eat, and has many excellent local services.
