Friday October 28

G.A.I.N Public Safety Night and Litchfield Park Elementary School Carnival at Litchfield Elementary School.  Litchfield Park is once again holding a G.A.I.N. event in conjunction with their annual fall carnival and fundraiser.  Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and Goodyear Fire Department will have their vehicles on display for the kids to check out.  The carnival has  giveaways, arts and crafts vendors, food, games and lots of carnival activities.  There will also be a haunted house, bounce houses, costume parade and costume contest.  A Little Drama "Thriller" Dancers will be performing.  Event starts at 5pm and ends at 8pm.  All proceeds go to the Litchfield Park Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association.

Goodyear Fall Concert Series at Goodyear Community Park.  Enjoy local favorite Thaddeus Rose perform high energy all ages entertainment.  Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, food and drinks (no glass).  There will also be an on-site food vendor you can purchase from.  Starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.   Visit the City of Goodyear website for more information.

Saturday October 29

Halloween FANGtastic Fall Festival at White Tank Park.  Join in the Halloween fun with a costume parade for the kids for different age groups as well as story tellers and face painters.  Event is at the White Tank Park Nature Center and runs from 10am to 12pm.  For more information visit the White Tank Mountain Regional Park website.

Field of Screams at Goodyear Ballpark.  Costume contests and lots of Halloween activities from 5pm to 8:30pm.  Event is free and there will be food concessions available for purchase.  There is a small fee for some of the activities.  For more information visit the City of Goodyear website.

Sunday October 30

Wigwam Farmer's Market at Wigwam Front Lawn.  The weekly farmer's market should be back on the front lawn instead of the parking log.  Duncan Family Farms should be there with new crops of vegies as wells other local growers.  There is always a great variety of homemade goods such as gourmet popcorn, cooking oils, goat cheese, grass fed beef, flavored horseradish, and more!  The market runs from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

41st Annual Litchfield Park Festival of the Arts Nov 5 & 6.  Located in downtown historic Litchfield Park, this award winning event brings art, food and live entertainment with over 250 fine artists and craftsman.  9am to 5pm both days.  For more information visit the City of Litchfield Park website. 

4th Annual Taste of the Park Nov 13.  The Rotary Club of Litchfield Park is holding their annual Taste of the Park in downtown Litchfield Park.  Food will be provided by Estrella Mountain Community College Culinary Studies, Taps, blu Sushi, Old Pueblo Cafe, Corner Cafe, Wigwam Resort Restaurants and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.  Thaddeus Rose Bank will be providing live entertainment for the evening.  There will be a silent auction, raffle tickets and a 50/50 drawing.  For tickets and ticket prices call 602-374-4923 or order online at www.LitchfieldParkRotary.com.  100% of proceeds will benefit local charities.

New Friends of the White Tank Branch Library Book Sale.  Snatch up some great books during the 50% off sale in the lobby of the White Tank Branch Library.  Proceeds directly support the library and its learning and community programs.  Call 602-652-3000 for more information.

White Tank Library Classes at White Tank Mountain Regional Park.  Learn how to orgainize your digital and printed photographs at 1pm.  At 2:30pm learn the secrets of closet organization.  Call 602-652-3000 for more information.

G.A.I.N. Event at Goodyear Ballpark.  Annual community picnic with 12 restaurants offering free samples and the Knights of Columbus providing a bbq at minimal cost.  There will also be a petting zoo, live entertainment, K9 demonstrations and more.  This is a free event.  For more information www.ci.goodyear.az.us.

Sunday October 23

Arts in the Park Concert in Litchfield Park.  Enjoy the sounds of "Come Back Buddy" on the Front Lawn of the Wigwam from 3pm to 5pm.  "Come Back Buddy" plays 1950's Rock n' Roll and tributes to Buddy Holly.  Bring your lawn chair to this free event.  More information www.litchfield-park.org

Wigwam Farmer's Market in Litchfield Park.  Located on the Front Lawn of the Wigwam from 8:30am to 12:30pm.  Great vendors offering a variety of products as well as fresh produce.

Snake Feeding at White Tank Mountain Regional Park.  Located in the Nature Center from 3pm to 3:30pm.  After a venomous creature presentation watch the staff feed the snakes live rodents.  Visit the White Tank Mountain Regional Park website for more info.

Saturday 10/15/11

Kids Photo Hike at White Tank Mountain Regional Park.  Bring the kiddos out for a hike featuring a discovery hunt using their camaras.  The hike will start at the Nature Center at 10 am and head out along the Mule Deer Trails.  The .5 mile hike is flat and labeled easy.  Must call ahead for reservations:  623-935-2505.  For more info visit the White Tank Mountain Regional Park website.

Sunday 10/16/11

Wigwam Farmer's Market in Litchfield Park.  The farmer's market has been temporarily relocated to the parking lot of the Wigwam due to the overseeding of the Wigwam's Front Lawn.  Last week there was some great vendors there selling some yummy and unique items such as specialty horseradish, goat cheese from Crow's Dairy, gourmet popcorn, creme brulee, and salsa, just to name a few.  Produce was a little low due to the time of the year, but Duncan farms should be back in full force within the next few weeks.  Wigwam Farmer's Market is held every Sunday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Visit Wigwam's website for more information.

Thursday 9/22/11

Mammals of Arizona at Estrella Mountain Regional Park.  Join Ranger John in the Nature Center to learn more about the life of mammals living in Arizona.  The presentation will be held in the Nature Center followed by a short hike looking for clues left behind by mammals in the area.  For more information visit the website at  http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/estrella.  Hike starts at 10am.  $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  

Friday 9/23/11

Black Rock History Hike at White Tank Park.  This mile hike starts at 8:30 am at Area 4.  According to the Maricopa County website, "this is a 1/2 mile hike on a flat trail to one of the largest and most concentrated collection of Hohokam and Yavapai petroglyphs in the Valley. The hike will discuss history and lifestyles of the early native people of the Valley and try to decipher the meaning of some of the ancient rock art symbols along the trail."  There is a $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  More info:  www.maricopa.gov/parks/white_tank.

 

Live Music at Ground Control Coffee and Wine Bar in Goodyear.  Enjoy Sonoran Jazz bank dulceVas from 7pm to 10pm.   In addition to delicious coffees, Ground Control also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They also offer a large selection of wines and international beers. Sonoran (Snorin') Sunrise Hike at Estrella.  Sandy Kehs leads this 2.5 mile hike along the beautiful Baseline loop trail.  Hike starts at 6:30 am.  $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  More info:   http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/estrella.

Farmer's Market at Wigwam.  Features fresh fruits, vegetables and handcrafted delicacies such as cheese, preserves, bread and wine.  7am-11am, Front Lawn.

Kids Discovery Hike at White Tank Park.  Join the park ranger for a learning "discovery-type scavenger hunt" on the Nature Center Interpretive Trail.  The hike starts at 8:30 at the Nature Center.  There is a $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  Reservations for this hike are required.  More info:  www.maricopa.gov/parks/white_tank.

Celebrate Oktoberfest at Wigwam in Litchfield Park on September 24, 2011

Oktoberfest Returns to Wigwam in Litchfield Park

Throw on your lederhosen, grab your stein and head out to Wigwam in Litchfield Park to join in on some authentic German fun! On September 24, The City of Ltichfield Park and Wigwam in Litchfield Park will be celebrating Oktoberfest, one of Litchfield Park resident's most popular annual event. Enjoy authentic German food prepared by Wigwam's chefs along with German beer and spirits on the historic resort's Front Lawn.

The event will feature live music and dancing and a costume contest for the best Oktoberfest attire so be sure to dress up! There will also be German activities for the kiddos. Purchase tickets at the City of Litchfield Park Recreation Center or at the event. Tickets are $10 per person with children 12 & under free. Admission does not include dinner entrees or beverages. Oktoberfest starts at 5pm and ends at 9pm. Don't miss it!
